As if the fire brigade didn’t haven enough to do, late last night there was a fire in a backyard shed in Avonside/Upper Linwood that resulted in the arrival of two fire engines to quell the flames.
Just prior to the fire starting up, a window was seen wide open on the front of the property which was believed to have been left empty since the 22nd February earthquake.
As well as the two fire engines, police and members of the army also turned up on the scene. It’s believed by some that the fire was started intentionally but for unknown reasons.
Not that there needs to be a reason for some people I guess.
Tensions are still high in some areas of the eastern suburbs following the earthquake and a perceived lack of action. In fact, the Civil Defence and relevant authorities are rapidly moving through this area of the city and assistance is available for those in need, despite the lack of power and water to some areas.
